Yesterday afternoon Levante UD coach, Javier Calleja, participated in the V Opening Ceremony of the Coaches Course of the Valencian Community Football Federation, which was held at the San Carlos headquarters of the Catholic University of Valencia. The granota coach, together with Rubén Baraja (Valencia CF), José Rojo “Pacheta” (Villarreal CF), Sebastián Beccacece (Elche CF) and Fernando Estévez (CD Eldense) contributed his point of view on his profession and highlighted the importance of training and forming a good work team.
Javi Calleja explained how he decided to take the step to train as a coach. “Being a Villarreal CF player, a few of us signed up for the course, but I didn't sign up until I saw my retirement creeping closer and I was spending more time on the bench in Osasuna. I have always enjoyed football and it interested me. Playing is the most wonderful thing, but I have always liked training” said the Levante ‘mister’.
Furthermore, one of the main topics that the coach highlighted was the importance of surrounding himself with good professionals when putting together his work team: “For me it is key. I have been lucky since I was at Villarreal CF to have an excellent coaching staff, who are like my family. They are the ones who know me best. Thanks to them I can work freely and I can delegate”.
