Levante UD and CD Tenerife settle for a draw
Levante UD and CD Tenerife settled for a draw in a match where each team dominated one half, but neither could convert their chances into goals.
The initial moments passed with parity, with both teams sharing possession minutes and without clear opportunities. Levante fans were on the edge of their seats when, in the 18th minute, their team launched a counterattack with a ball passing through the feet of Carlos Álvarez. He passed it to Algobia, and the '23' opened to the right for Capa to cross. Juan Soriano stopped the ball to avoid problems in the small area. Minutes later, in another counter, Levante went for the goal with a good combination in the last meters between Dani Gómez and Bouldini. The latter's shot was stopped by the goalkeeper. Once again, in a new counterattack, Levante could have found the goal. Finally, Pablo Martínez failed to connect with Dani Gómez near the area, and the ball went wide.
In the final moments of the first half, Dani Gómez forced the defense to work hard to prevent his approach from causing problems, and Medrano finally sent the ball out for a corner after the forward's shot. Thus, with no changes on the scoreboard, both teams headed to the dressing rooms.
After the break, CD Tenerife's approaches came from set pieces, while Levante UD continued to try counterattacks and combination plays. The clearest chance came for the visitors in the 59th minute with a powerful long-range shot from Roberto López that hit the post. Shortly after, one of the most anticipated moments for everyone in the Levante family occurred with the return to the field of Andrés García after suffering a bone edema in the tarsus of his left foot at the end of September.
Levante players later attempted an attack with a run by Dani Gómez. Already in the box, the forward passed it to Lozano, and the latter's shot was caught by Juan Soriano. The response from the Tenerife side was not long in coming, and Enric Gallego came close to giving his team the lead, but he met Andrés Fernández, who did everything possible to keep the ball out of the goal. The ball bounced on the goal line and went out. With ten minutes left in the match, José León received the second yellow card, reducing the visitors to ten men. Shortly after, Levante UD came close to taking the lead with a shot from Iván Romero that hit the post.
In the end, the lack of definition in the final meters cost both teams, and they had to settle for a draw.
