Levante Unión Deportiva has declared 5 days of official mourning in memory and tribute to the victims of the fire that occurred in Valencia, in which 10 people lost their lives, including a club member and his family.
The president of Levante UD, Pablo Sánchez, spoke again today with the parents of the victims, and they have granted permission to Levante UD to initiate a series of actions in memory of their son, Ramón Ferrer Serra, and their grandson, Víctor Ferrer Bataller, who already had the symbolic pass given to children under 4 years old. Therefore, Levante UD has decided to declare 5 days of mourning as a sign of grief, during which the club's activities will be limited to purely professional and sports matters.
From now on, all communications from Levante UD will bear a black ribbon, and institutional and social activities will be suspended until Saturday noon, except for the press conference that the coach, Felipe Miñambres, is obliged to give as a preview of the match against Oviedo by La Liga's indication, to whom we thank for their sensitivity in our request to postpone last Saturday's match. There are no such obligations in the rest of the sections.
Players from all sections of Levante UD will not give interviews during this week, and the club has canceled planned visits to schools, anniversary celebrations of fan clubs, as well as actions with sponsors, collaborators, and all those activities carried out in collaboration with the Levante UD Foundation, such as talks in educational centers.
For the next match against Real Sporting, the club is preparing an action in homage to all the victims, especially to our member and his family, who were members for 23 years and lost their lives in the fire that has deeply affected the entire Valencian society.
