A great tribute to the champion athletes to enhane the atmosphere of the Levante UD vs FC Barcelona Femení
The prelude and the atmosphere surrounding the match between Levante UD and FC Barcelona, two of the historic giants of Spanish women's football, were themselves a tribute to the champion athletes from every angle. The players from the Levante UD Foundation, the Spanish U12 champions from our Granota Academy, or the footballers who lifted the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in the summer of 2023, with the tribute paid by our club for their success, captured the attention at our Ciutat de València
Special moments for the athletes of the Levante UD Foundation
The players of the Levante UD Foundation, including members of our pioneering Levante UD EDI Women's team, experienced very special moments. First, they were able to watch the warm-up of the Levante UD Women's team from the pitch itself, seeing how Sánchez Vera's players prepared for the thrilling match against the best team in the world, FC Barcelona. Later, they were able to high-five the players as they headed to the dressing room tunnel. But the celebration for our highly-abled athletes didn't end there: two of their members, Lorena Valdeolmillos and Sara Ahuir, had the opportunity to place the official match ball on the pedestal, in front of nearly 11,000 fans enjoying from the stands of the Ciutat de València. And, to top it off, they posed in the official match photo with the Levante UD Women's team. A day to remember.
Recognition for the Spanish sub-12 champions from the Granota Academy
The Granota women's football achieved another important success this week, as several members of the Academy were crowned Spanish sub-12 champions with the Valencian team. Imilce Domínguez, María López, Claudia Doménech, Excel Osaosemwen, Ester Medina, Amalia Benavent, and Adriana Alegre took to the pitch of the Levante coliseum to perform the ceremonial kick-off and also receive the applause from the spectators present there. Undoubtedly, these young girls will not forget what happened this Easter Sunday at the Ciutat de València.
Levante UD presents a special gift to the FC Barcelona's World Champions
As part of our club's initiative this year, in collaboration with our sponsor Fibra Valencia, and also pioneering in the Liga F, we wanted to acknowledge the FC Barcelona's World Champions with the Spanish national team for their achievement last summer. Accompanied by our counselors Maribel Vilaplana and Ruth García, Levante UD's honorary president Paco Fenollosa, and the Institutional Relations Manager of Levante UD Femenino, Marisa Blay, Aitana Bonmatí, Mariona Caldentey, Salma Paralluelo, Cata Coll, Irene Paredes, and the former Levante players Alexia Putellas and Ona Batlle received their gifts.
The Levante UD Women's Fan Club presented a diploma to the U12 Spanish Champions
The most dedicated group of supporters of our women's team, the Levante UD Women's Fan Club, took another step in their support by holding a touching ceremony in the Honor Box of the Ciutat de València during halftime of the match against FC Barcelona. Their president, Amparo Sáiz, presented a diploma to the U12 Spanish Champions from the Valencia team. Also present at the event, alongside Ruth García and Marisa Blay, were the general director of Levante UD Femenino, Maider Castillo, and Vicente Mora, coordinator of Levante UD's women's grassroots football.
Distribution of balls among the 11,000 fans at the Ciutat
To cap off the women's football celebration, at the end of the match, both the Levante UD and FC Barcelona players distributed a good number of official Liga F balls among the fans at the Ciutat de València. Some lucky ones were able to catch balls signed by all the players who make up the Levante UD Women's first team.
The national coach Montse Tomé, in the VIP box
Montse Tomé, the national senior team coach, was present in the VIP box at the Ciutat de València, taking note of everything that happened during the Levante UD Women's match against FC Barcelona. It's worth noting that, in addition to all the players called up for the Barcelona team, Alba Redondo and María Méndez received the call-up from the coach (who is also a former Levante player, by the way). Regarding other categories, Andrea Tarazona, María Valenzuela, Érika, and Silvia Lloris are with the under-23 team, while Daniela Arques is with the under-19s.
